The house of Ourscamp

8 centuries of Parisian history

Welcome to Paris Historique, an association created in 1963 whose purpose is to defend and rehabilitate Paris and the surrounding area (île de France). We offer tours of our house which dates back to the end of the 16th century and was built over a Cistercian gothic cellar from the 13th century.

We also sell books about Paris, reproductions of old maps of Paris and run a multimedia library on the 2nd floor.

Paris Historique which was set up in 1963, aims to promote and preserve the old neighborhoods of Paris as well as other towns in the area.

There are members of our association on various institutional committees of preservation (« Commission du Vieux Paris », « Commission Départementale des Sites »,  « Perspectives et Paysages », «Commission Régionale du Patrimoine et des Sites », « Commission Locale du Marais »), thus Paris Historique works towards diversity in neighborhoods: architectural, social, economic and commercial.

Aside from this house, the association has taken part in the renovation of the « hôtels particuliers (mansion) » Vigny, Coulanges and Beauvais as well as the house of Fontainier.

We have a preservation group whose role is to examine building permits in Paris and assess them from a cultural and historical point of view.

For the most important cases, such as the hôtel Lambert, we may go as far as taking the case to court.

To make the public aware of our actions, the association conducts guided tours, puts on exhibitions, holds lectures (« café patrimoine ») and rallies.

This house consists of two parts, one medieval and the other Renaissance. The cellar as well as certain parts of the ground floor date back to the 13th century and the rest of the house is from the end of the 16th century.

You are welcome to visit us.
